Discover! Outdoor Adventures

Image
I've dared you to go outside.  I've dared you to walk.  I've dared you to run.

Today, I combine all three.

As the weather gets warmer, I've now spent infinitely more time outdoors, taking advantage of every sunny, rain-free day to walk.  Cars? Subways? Buses?  No thank you!  Save your money and move those legs!  Whether you're simply trying to get from Point A to Point B, or you have a mere five, ten, or thirty minutes to spare, I dare you to walk or jog.

Make it an adventure.  Explore!  Do not map out your route.  Ditch your Garmin.  Just go where your legs, the street lights, your gut takes you.  Not only will you benefit from the fresh air and sunlight, but you may also even discover something new!  How much do you really explore your area?  When you're driving around, do you get to appreciate the nature surrounding your home?  Might there be hidden gems you've yet to uncover?

During the beautiful weather of the past couple weekends, I made my way outdoors…

Checking in: Meal Prep and Body Beanz Contest

Image
Just checking in, on this Monday morning!

If you've been keeping up with me on Instagram, then you know I just took part in the "Spring to Health" 14-day challenge, hosted by Amber, Jill, and Mari.  It was fun having a different task to complete or document each day!  Check out my Instagram feed to see the lot.

Lately, I've been slacking on the Sunday food prep that I'd started doing in the fall, and as a result, I've been running out of food or having to buy things last minute.  Time to get back in the habit, to make sure I've got healthy, tasty meals ready for the week!  Last night, I did just that.  I prepared a few different food items and made sure I had on stock everything I'd need to pull together meals.

Last night's prep yielded...

Zucchini Carrot Egg Bake

Those, combined with some greens, sweet potato, banana, baked salmon, and Greek yogurt... yep! I'm well on my way.  No roadblocks, this week!

What else is new?

Take a Staycation!

Image
In the beginning of the month, I vowed to Enjoy July and dared you all to Be Selfish this summer.  It's important to set aside time in our busy schedules to sit back and just plain have fun!

That's why my friend Becky and I planned ourselves a "Staycation" for this weekend!  For the month or two beforehand, we kept our eyes out for good deals, good ideas, and good eats to enjoy together.  In the end, we celebrated some professional successes with a staycation in our home city.

The result?  Two days, under $200, and a lot of fun and bonding time.

It began on in the morning with none other than a WALK!  Becky and I are both fit-minded people who enjoy physical activity and (mostly) healthy food.  We planned to walk/jog through Central Park, but with an ominous weather forecast and limited time frame, we decided to walk around from midtown to Washington Square Park and Soho instead.  We were still in our workout outfits and sneaks, and the heat definitely made us sweat…
