Chobani, walnuts, granola, raisins... |
Alright, I'm now finally a huge fan of oatmeal and granola, so it's about time I come around and try these "overnight oats" everyone raves about. No time to pour my mix-ins into my yogurt before heading out the door? This seems to be the prescription for when I know I'll have a very rushed morning.
Well, I gave it a try. This is the result.
Overnight Oats
- 1/2 cup yogurt
- 1/2 cup oats/nut mix
- 1/4 cup dried fruit (above, raisins. Also try bits of prunes, or apricots, etc)
Other tips:
- mix in 1/4 cup "milk" or water to thin it out. (I used Almond Breeze almond milk, see below.)
- add a bit (a tsp-Tbsp?) of sweetener (honey, agave) to taste
That's just what I happened to do on this one morning, but REALLY: these ratios are TOTALLY up to you! Depends how yogurt-y vs crunchy you want your oats!
Then, in the morning, you can either dig in cold, or zap it in the microwave for a quick, warm breakfast.
Dare you.

Do you like these ingredients mish-moshed together? If you already love overnight oats, did I do this right? (Is there a even way to do it wrong?) Do you have tips, ideas, anything else we should know?

ReplyDeleteI LOVEEEEEEEE OVERNIGHT OATS!!! :)
ReplyDeletei keep thinking about making these but simply haven't yet. need to just do it!
ReplyDeleteYep. I dare you!
Deleteso the thing about overnight oats is i thought that everyone ate them cold...so i've never tried them! i didn't know some people heated them up in the morning!
ReplyDeleteI liked em cold too; it's kinda like I make my yogurt most mornings, except chunkier and all the flavors have melted together.
DeleteMy first bowl of overnight oats changed my life! So many options and possibilities. Definitely swoon worthy ;)
ReplyDeleteI am obsessed with overnight oats. I don't use yogurt bc I don't eat dairy, but I make mine with almond milk, protein powder, peanut butter and chia seeds. It just rocks my world.
ReplyDeleteLOVE overnight oats!! I have them once a day - usually either with pumpkin or frozen blueberries. And I just mix greek yogurt with oats, flax, stevia, and water to think. It's a different consistency every day but to me, the thicker the better
ReplyDeletePumpkin. Genius. Thank you.
DeleteI have had overnight oats but I do prefer my oats cooked/hot. Never thought of heating up overnight oats so I'll be sure to try that next time.
ReplyDeleteI sure do like foods mixed together! Overnight oats are okay.. I eat them much more often during the summer though
ReplyDeleteChallenge Accepted!
ReplyDeleteI just can't get into ANY form of oats! I feel like I am the only blogger in the world haha. I do love mixing everything else you used together through, just minus the oats :D
